Don Bosco’s
Academic Pathways Program

A truly unique jumpstart on college and career preparation

Don Bosco remains one of the best private schools in NJ because we believe it’s never too early to prepare for the future. In addition to a rigorous liberal arts curriculum, Don Bosco offers an innovative Academic Pathways program that allows students to explore their passions and in a concentrated area of study. This unique experience gives students a say in their education., It helps them to explore a deeper understanding of career fields, determine preferred majors before college, and it gives them a true jumpstart on understanding their true calling.

In each Academic Pathway, students collaborate with alumni, parents and friends of Don Bosco Prep through guest lectures, mentoring and fieldwork. This elevates student engagement through exposure to the world outside the Don Bosco Campus.

Through our pathways, students collaborate with alumni, parents and friends of Don Bosco Prep through guest lectures, mentoring and fieldwork, to gain meaningful real-world experiences. Some areas students can explore include:

Business

Entrepreneurs and business experts serve as volunteer coaches and mentors. They guide students through the processes of developing a business plan, fully developing their product or service, and executing their plans. Seminars, trips, and internships enhance this pathway experience.

Communication Arts

Students with a passion for media learn the basics of TV and film production, including scripting, producing, filming, and editing. They learn media principles and get hands-on experience for a significant head start for potential communications majors.

Computer Science

The Computer Science Pathway, is based on the nationally recognized “Project STEM” curriculum from Amazon Future Engineers. It allows students to become creators, not just consumers, of the technology that surrounds them.

Engineering

The Don Bosco Prep Engineering Pathway uses robotics and other hands-on, project-based learning as a medium to foster technical and teamwork skills. Students develop these competencies through both academic and extracurricular activities.

Fine Arts

Students hone their skills in traditional and advanced courses including drawing, painting, ceramics, Studio 2D and Studio 3D.

Performing Arts

Opportunities abound! Music programs include Concert Band, Jazz Band, String Orchestra, Concert Chorus and others. Don Bosco musicians also perform on the Rockefeller Center stage and share our own stage with industry professionals. The theater pathway includes student-led winter and spring productions as well as outreach programs, as well as theater tech education.
